Thankfully, its perfect timing. The 2009 US Open at Bethpage Black in New York is underway today...well, barely. It seems there is a little problem with rain up there today. It has turned Bethpage Black from this...

...into this...

...which brings new meaning to this, which is posted near the 1st Tee on this great golf course...

This seems like the 100th time in a row that a major championship (The US Open, The Masters, The PGA Championship, and The British Open for all of you who don't know) has been delayed by rain. The course is softning up, will play much longer, and the LONG rough will be that much more difficult to hit out of. Jason Sobel, a blogger for ESPN, had something posted earlier saying that Mother Nature must be a bitter golf widow who delights in delaying these tournaments and tormenting the players. I completely agree. She always seems to supply days of rain/wind/lightning on the majority of days when I want to play...someone buy her some flowers or some chocolates!
Anyway, hopefully they get underway soon and good luck to Phil.

maybe it's global warming causing all these rain delays... :)
