So, College Football and the NFL are finally here. I am SO very lucky to have a wonderful wife who I think may like football about 80% as much as I do. THAT is saying something. We went up to Stillwater to tailgate at the Oklahoma State and Georgia. Had a lot of fun and we've basically been glued to the TV the last two weeks watching games. Good too cause Texas (always my rooting interest) is 2-0 and the Dallas Cowboys (ALWAYS Linds' rooting interest) won this weekend too. The weather made it perfect for staying indoors too....I think we've gotten about 8 inches of rain in the last 5 days. It doesn't want to quit!
Anyway, we're hoping to get out a little this weekend. We'll be watching the Texas-Texas Tech revenge game this weekend. We were going to go to Austin and go to the game, but we've decided against it. We're gonna try and get out and play some golf Sunday afternoon and get back and watch the Cowboys Sunday night. Isn't it great to be planning weekends around football games again???? Its been a long offseason!
Congrats to my friends Brady and Brandi Bell on the birth of their little girl Breecia (I think I've spelled that right). From the pictures I've seen since cleanup, etc. the girl is gorgeous. Going to see her and them this week. So many of my oldest friends are having babies....and CUTE babies. Little Reese Rumage is about as cute as they come. My friends Chris and Erica are having a baby in December. Lindsay and I have just looked at each other amd say "Nope" every time the subject of us having kids soon is mentioned.
Hope everyone has a good week! And if you live in North Texas, I hope you are able to mow your lawn sometime in the next two weeks. Mine is a swamp and I'm looking at some tall bermuda that I question if I'll ever get to cut!

Long Time No Write
So, I haven't updated everyone on my life or on any news lately. Sorry. I've kinda been out of town.
Linds and my wedding went really well. It was really nice and I want to say thank you to everyone who helped make it what it was. We have some great memories that we took away from it. The honeymoon was great too. Mexico was a lot of fun. Snorkeling, fishing, hanging out at the resort...it was all great. I came back with some interesting souvenirs. Paintings, pottery, vanilla, Monty's Revenge...like bringing a little of Mexico home with me.
Anyway, have a lot going on in the coming few weeks to share. College football is about to start (woohoo!!!), the Rangers are in the wild card lead...life is good. Just wish some cooler weather would hurry up and get here!

Don't Cook Your Cooler
Just a quick funny. We had a steak cookout to celebrate a retirement this week at a friend's house. Due to the embarassment he might feel, I feel obligated to take steps in protecting him so we will refer to the host of this party as BILL YARBRO in this story.
We had cooked the largest bone-in ribeye's you've ever seen. BILL YARBRO had set up salad and potatoes in the house, so we threw the steaks in a Igloo Cooler to keep them warm while taking them in the house. Our host (BILL YARBRO) carried the cooler in the house and sat it down in the kitchen. Suddenly we all smell something and there's smoke everywhere. Seems BILL had forgotten the stove top on which he set the cooler was turned on. Here's what we ended up with...

And this was the "battle scarred" cooler...

Wedding Update---T-Minus 30 days
So, time for a wedding update.
My ring has arrived safe and sound, so my dear Lindsay's fear of disaster has been averted. I would however like to take this moment to point out the EXTREME inequity in the expense of the grooms ring as compared to the brides ring AND wedding band. I told Linds she should feel SO guilty about it that she should send me on a golfing trip to Myrtle Beach this fall or next spring. We'll see how that works out.
Things are rolling along nicely. Granted, I'm still stressed to the limit about everything that is going on...but things are getting there. Rehearsal dinner is planned. I've printed invitations. Bachelor golf/gamblin outing is getting set. Once I get the music all set to go, I think I'll be in the clear on the actual wedding.
On the more stressing front, the combination of Linds' job search and our future house hunt is killing me. We feel 98% positive Linds is getting a job at a private school in Roanoke...so thats good. Bad news is I'm still waiting to get a contract on my house (cause my buyer is waiting for a contract on his). This of course will have a bearing on our home plans. Other problem is Linds has to be out of her apartment by the end of July...then we'll be on the honeymoon...then she'll be starting back to school roughly a week after we return. I nor Lindsay are too keen on her commuting from Bowie, so I sure wish this house situation would start working itself out. In any case, we're going to be furiously looking for a place during a time where we have very little spare minutes. Ugh!
But hey, nothing wonderful comes without some effort and pains. Wedding's almost here. I'm VERY ready!
